An Obamanation

Jakeb got in trouble tonight. He has been switching the thermostat to emergency heat which is not a cool thing to do. It causes the heater to work in over time costing us a lot more money. At first we didn't know who was doing it. We assumed maybe Kaleb was doing, but then we realized that he wasn't even tall enough to reach it. Blake and Luke both said they didn't do it. So that left poor Jakeb. He kept saying that he "probably didn't do it." And well, "probably" wasn't good enough for us.
After finally fessing up to doing it, this following conversation took place:

Dad: "Who made you lie, Jakeb?"

Jakeb: "Obama made me lie!"

Dad: "Did Obama call us?"

Jakeb: "No."

Dad: "Then how did he make you lie?"

Jakeb: "Because he made our state blue."

How the man kept from laughing, I'll never know.

random picture challenge

I like this challenge because it's easy and fun...and it holds memories. It's from this blog which I enjoy reading. It's the 11th picture in your September of 2007 folder. I seperate my pictures slightly differently so I went with the 11th folder, and then picked my favorite. Hey, I can do that, right?
Apparently I posted them on my blog before because I had a collage of the pictures already made in my folder, so I added them to just for fun. Here's the original post.

Check out Luke's toothless grin. Makes me smile every time.

For all you Rib Lovers out there

Go to Montgomery Inn before Thursday night. They have all you can eat Ribs For $20 which, for those who live around here, know is a great deal! My hubby was stoked when he heard about it. It's one of his favorite places to eat around here.

Explanation, Please?

Why, when there are napkins on the table literally right in front of them, does my son have to use his socks as a napkin for his pizza covered hands? I noticed Jakeb's sock after the pizza party on Saturday.

Not Me, Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

For instance, right as I was typing this, I did NOT freak out on my son because he broke his brother's brand new trophy that he just received on Saturday for basketball. It definitely does not the prove the rule that we can have nothing breakable in this house for more than two days with out it getting broken. I am still not slightly grumpy that it was broken considering it was his first trophy ever.

I did not laugh and call my son a monkey the other day when I noticed him picking at his hair and then putting his fingers in his mouth. I did not think it was hilarious when he said it tasted good. I then did not realize that he had chocolate all in his hair from the Valentine's Day party that he had at church the night before. I was also not reminded of that very morning when Luke told me that Jakeb slept with his candy and apparently slept with the chocolate right on his pillow causing it to melt all over his pillow and his head. I also did not attempt to brush the chocolate out only to realize that there was so much in it that I had to give him a shower.

I am not overjoyed with the fact that basketball is officially over for the season! Who-hoo!!!! And I'm not dreading the thought that we have four kids signed up for sports in the spring/summer.

Eric and I did not dress up for our themed worker's banquet with old fashion clothes, and we were definitely not thrilled when we won second place losing only to the people who actually rented their costumes.
On the other hand I was NOT mortified that I actually fit into the outfit that my mom had made forever ago for herself for another Old Fashion day at church. The I would never be able to fit into my mother's clothes. They would be way too big. I also did not realize that my mother has the shortest waist in the world. Even if I wasn't pregnant, the shirt stopped above my belly. Of course that did not mean that I had to pull the skirt part up way above my belly so that I could wear it all without being indecent. I wasn't uncomfortable wearing the outfit at all. Really.
(my mom and dad forever ago)

Oh, here's a good one. I bought a cake for the worker's banquet because I had no time to make anything. We had three games and a basketball party the same day as the boat ride banquet. Anyways, I did not tell the kids that I would bring any of the cake home for them if there was any left over. I did not watch as a server took the lid of my cake and throw it away and wonder how I would get the cake home later. I then did not manage to cover it with a paper towel, walk up the dock, slip and fall...all the while saving my cake. I then did not get all the way back to the church on a crowded bus, and then pick up my kids and get all the way back to my house only to DROP it the very minute I opened the car door. I did however, almost catch it with my foot. Such a bummer!
I did not celebrate my nine year anniversary by going to a Stampin UP party instead of a dinner or something with my husband. (Hey, I did make a nice dinner for everyone at home that night...steak and potatoes.) And we did NOT make these cute cards.
okay, and last one. My husband did not take Makenna to church last night with her hair sticking up like a PEACOCK. He would always comb her hair and make sure she had the perfect hair because he totally know how to do girl hair. He did not make everyone laugh when they saw her. I was not slightly embarrassed at all.

I Heart faces Blog

Well, my friend Candace inspired me to play along on the I heart Faces Blog. I've come across it a couple of times, but always to late to enter. Here's the pictures I'm entering, one for the kids category and one for the adult. This picture of Makenna is from the other day when I did the fairy princess pictures. See Here and Here if you want to see the other ones.

And this picture of my hubby is from a couple years ago. He had just gotten home from work, and the kids were all playing in the backyard, so he joined us back there. I, of course, had the camera and caught this one.

Wordless Wednesday

Mark your calendars, People!

We find out what we're having on......MARCH 12th!!! Who-hoo!!! If ya'll are lucky, I'll tell you. I'll be 19 weeks along. Usually, they make you wait until you're 20 weeks along, but I asked the doctor if I could have it a week early. And you know what his response was? "Well, since you're a frequent flyer here....." ha....Ha....HA!!!! Actually it was pretty funny. I did the whole throw my head back and chuckled rather loudly. Dr. Fackler just smiled.

Oh, and for those of you who remember my last visit (click here to be reminded). Let's just say it involved a certain husband of MINE. Anyways, it's been 6 weeks. I was really hoping that they forgot the whole ordeal. I've had to reschedule twice for different reasons. That gave them plenty of time to forget. Right? WRONG! I walked in and the woman looked up and said, "You're here, Susan." And marked me off. Now you must realize I go by my first name at doctor offices, and even though I've been to this one dozens of times, they never remember my name. I ALWAYS have to give it to them. Not any more. I looked down rather sheepishly at this point because I realized she remembered the whole thing. And as she was probably experiencing a flashback at that very moment in her brain, she said, "Honey, look up, it's okay! I knew you were embarrassed the day you left. Don't worry about it any longer." I then started babbling at how sorry I was about the whole thing again when this other nurse lady looked around, then at me, and said in a hushed, but matter-of-fact tone, "Don't worry about it! We all have husbands." Her words were meant to comfort and to make me smile which they did until this very moment that I'm typing this. The more I think about it. The other nurse wasn't even there that day which means........ I (or rather, my husband) was the office talk for probably a couple of days, so in reality they ALL knew who I was now! I was "the woman who's husband goes bezerk at the receptionist!" AHHHHH!!!!

Oh, and by the way....the doctor visit went well. I'm measuring right, and the baby's heartbeat is good.

Whipped cream

I have to give Eric credit. He always has fun with the boys. The boys love seeing what's gonna happen next. We had strawberry shortcake last night, and the boys were receiving mouthful and mouthful of squirtable whipped cream in their mouths. Did I approve? Absolutely not, but you should have heard their voices.
Tonight Eric put 15 M&M's on a plate. He gave each kid so many seconds to eat the M&M's off the plate. Sounds easy, right? NOT! He told them that they couldn't use their hands. You should have seen them trying to eat those candies as first as they could. Then, because Blake didn't eat fast enough, he got sent to his bedroom. I, at first couldn't figure out, but then I saw Eric's plan. The plan was....one kid was going to go diving head first into the M&M's only to find a plateful of whipped cream instead. (Good thing he picked Blake. He loves whipped cream.) Blake came back out completely innocent of what was about to happen, and down he went into the plate.....and STAYED there.
He loved it. He stopped caring about the M&M's and focused all on the whipped cream. He was in heaven here on earth. And then, after his time was up....he dived back in. Here's a video of the whole thing. Youtube wasn't working, so you get blogger quality instead.

challenge

Here's a random picture challenge that I think is fun. Find out more about it HERE. It was January of 2007, 13th folder, 3 picture, and this is what I found. Jakeb and his GEOTRAX. This was the original GEOTRAX that I bought....one small set, and then I created a Geotrax MONSTER with my husband who turned out liking them more than the kids. Now we have pretty much every set possible!!! AHHHHHHH

Field trip, Anyone?

Our co-op had a field trip today. After getting nearly getting into a car accident and getting lost using Yahoo Maps, we finally found the place only to be about 10 minutes late. The boys LOVED it. We went to Boonshaft Museum in Dayton. It's basically a children's natural history/science museum with tons of stuff to do.
They had two classes, animal kingdom and Matter, that they were taught by the pros there, and then there was also free time to through the museum. It was very similar to the children's museum in Cincinnati except it wasn't as crowded, so it made it nicer to watch the kids. Oh, and plus they had an area of real animals unlike the Cincinnati one. I hope to be going back sometime, and I'm pretty sure the boys won't mind going back.

18 month pictures

...a little late. If you're on facebook, then you've probably already seen them, and they're actually 19 month pictures, but don't tell Makenna. Her brothers all got them at 18 months nd they got them professionally done. Poor Makenna got neither. My thoughts are....hey, at least she got some! I was about to forget them all together. So, we dressed her up as a fairy for one set, and then her flower girl dress for the other. I didn't get any of her in her dress at the wedding. (Now, nobody better make fun of her bangs either. She decided to move right as I was cutting them, so they're a little short. Oh well, such is life.) I thought they turned out pretty cute.

And I leave you with this one to make you smile.

Snow Cream, Anyone??

Well, I caved, and made my kids some snow cream. My friend, Amy, was the first person to introduce me to it. Then some other friends said they made it for their kids, and then I gave in to peer pressure, and made some too for the children. They all helped make it, and they likes it...well, except for Kaleb. He wasn't too fond of it. Regardless, it was experience for all of us. Even Eric tried some.Recipe for snow cream
1 cup milk
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
4-5 cups of CLEAN, fresh snow
Mix milk, sugar, and vanilla together. Slowly add snow until it thickens up like ice cream. Add more snow to get desired thickness!

We got snow...

Lots and lots of snow! (Check my my friend Candace's blog!) We were supposed to only get flurries...maybe an inch, but instead we got closer to 7 INCHES! It was so much snow, in fact, that it took Eric almost 4 hours to get home from work. However, he was smart and made the most of his time. He stopped at the grocery store for me and Target to shop. He figured he would rather be shopping than sitting in traffic. (seriously, the weather people said that traffic was moving about four miles per hour, and I won't even mention the weather guy who said his wife drove 2 miles in 1 hour and 45 minutes! INSANE!)

So he shopped, and I must admit that he did a good job. He got my entire list that I gave him over the phone...and it was LONG. The only minor problem when he shops...he sometimes gets stuff that we don't need. However, the kids were THRILLED!!!! He came home with a present for each of the kids.
It was so funny though. He bought Blake some fabric softener sheets. Yes, I said fabric softener. Blake has been doing the laundry lately, and he thought that Blake would enjoy the smell of it. I fully expected for Blake to be disappointed, but he wasn't. He totally loved it. Of course, Eric was joking, and actually got Blake this ATM bank that he's been wanting for awhile, so Blake was excited to get TWO things. (He actually went to bed with the fabric softener. HA!) Anyways, here's Blake's excitement when his dad pulled out the bank!

Bows, Bows, and more BOWS!!!

Okay, I'll admit it. I've been on a bow buying frenzy! Shoot! My baby girl has hair! I've had four boys. I've never been able to do little boy's hair. So, well, I went on ebay the other day, and bid on an auction of bows. There were 42 bows for like $13.50...all handmade, but I didn't win. Then I found another auction that had 30 bows for a little less, so I bid on that one....and won! But when I checked my email, I had a second chance offer from the lady with the 42 bows....and well....I bought both auctions. I couldn't help it. Seriously, they look so cute in Makenna's hair, and she seems to like them. So, now with bows in every color....she should be set for awhile, right? Yeah right!

IKEA desks...

...finally put together, and in my room! Who-hoo! There's still more organizing that should be done, but my main goal was to get the desks together and get them in the room. Now I work on the classroom. It's a mess!
