Some fun this evening

The younger boys wanted to play with the slide/pool today, so we took advantage of the beautiful weather that God gave us, and play they did!!!! Since I had a lot of them sliding already, I just took some fun water pictures!!

They've done it again....

Portrait Innovations has taken some stinkin' cute pictures of my kids again. Of course, it totally helps to have some of the cutest kids in the whole wide world. (Note: I said "some" only because I didn't want to hear anyone disagree with me about their kid being cuter. Ha!) The kids did great today too getting their picture done, even Makenna. She was posing and everything.

You be So&So, and I'll be.....

This all happened and was recorded earlier in the day before any of the current happenings of this man's life. I've never liked the man, so sorry if you're offended.

"......MICHAEL JACKSON!"

That's what I heard my seven year old say to his younger brother. I was like, "What???" So I called Luke into my room, and said,
"Do you know who Michael Jackson is?"

He sheepishly said, "No"

"He's a very bad man who sings bad music and does bad things to kids."

"Oh"

"Now, do you really want to be him?"

"No"

As I'm trying to hide a smirk, "Please don't pretend to be people who you don't know anything about."

"Okay!"

"Where did you hear about Michael Jackson from?"

"I heard you and Daddy talking about him last night."

Man....those little ears are EVERYWHERE!!! Somehow the boys heard of the moonwalk dance thingy. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to stuff like that, so I had asked Eric if that was the Michael Jackson backwards dance thing. He responded yes, and made some kind of joke that it would work better if you have only one glove on. Then we started to rag on the man for a minute, and voila....my son wanted to pretend to be Michael Jackson.

a bug in the nose

Yesterday I got the following story from Luke which proves once and again that he is ALL-BOY!

Mom, I had this bug fly up my nose, and when I put my finger up my nose to get it out, I killed it. Then I had to take my finger and wipe it on the grass to get it off.

Lovely, huh? Thank you, son, for telling me that. There are some things that I can live without knowing. The joy of boys!

A new do

After Luke took his shower, he came downstairs like this....and he was SERIOUS!!! I just smiled and took a picture because I knew gel or no gel, his hair is way too thick to stay sticking up like that. It flattened with in an hour or so. (Thank goodness!)

Introducing Wedgits

These toys are cool. Jakeb got these for Christmas, and they've been playing with them ever since. You know how most toys get forgotten within a week after Christmas? These DIDN'T! They're a HIT! You build them every which way, and they're just plain fun to see what the next invention is that you're going to build. They're a little pricey, but every now and then amazon.com has them on sale. Of course, I got mine on sale too. I'm thinking Jakeb might even be getting more for his birthday.

Games today

We had a great day of basketball games. I actually only got to go to two of them because Jakeb's and Blake's were at the same time, but the two that I saw were great. Blake played his best yet. He's still hoping to make a basket by the end of the season. I'm sure it'll happen.

Luke did great too at his game. he made a basket tonight and was just so fun to watch. Here's a video of him making the basket.

a Boy's pocket

Check out what I found in Luke's pocket...all in his words
Number strip - for a guessing number game.
Dice - to predict a roll....(I guess kinda like gambling.)
Broken green light saber - to be an invisible guy fighting Count Dooku
Count Dooku - to play with the invisible guy
Feather - found in his down jacket...played with until a little girl took it, blew it, and then lost it.

an innocent letter

Dear ___________________
I'm sorry for disobeying you. I should obey you. One ofthe 10 comandments say, Thou shalt not commit other adultery.

The above letter was written by Luke because he disobeyed a gentleman in our church. When I read it, I about choked when i got to the adultery part. I asked Luke, "Why did you write that part?" He responded with, "Well, Mom, I'm supposed to obey ADULTS, so I figured that's what ADULTery meant." Needless to say, I about peed in my pants. I went on to explain that that is not exactly what that word meant although that was very good word association.

Luke's sleepover/birthday

This was Luke's year for a birthday party. We had lots of ideas to do things...like the zoo, a Chuck E. Cheese party, museum, a party at a park, or a sleepover. The last one won. He invited the two oldest Smuda boys to our house to PARTY ON! We had pizza, movies, xbox games, ice cream, cookie cake, and a sleepover on the floor. Talk about a fun time.
We're meeting up with the rest of the Smuda's at the Keehner Fall Festival. We went last year on Luke's birthday too.

Saturday

Today was pretty laid back. We had a soccer game (that we don't want to talk about) this morning at 10:00, and on the way home from there we stopped at the wonderful Panera Bread to get some Cinnamon Crunch Bagels! YUM! Afterwards...well, it was a "hang out" day. We didn't do too much. The boys played in the backyard digging for worms which has been there thing for the past couple of weeks. Luke has a jar out there and everything. Jakeb and Makenna were awfully cute out back playing ball together.

First Soccer Game

The older boys have started spring soccer. They had their first game last Saturday. Here's some pics of them. Here's Blake as goalie during the first quarter.

Then you have Luke as goalie during the second quarter....Oh, wait....he didn't get to be goalie or even play because he decided that when he finally got to play the second quarter (he sat out the first quarter), that he needed to go to the bathroom. Too bad there was NO bathroom. (and he knew this). He finally gets out there, waves at us, and then runs back to the coach where he rips off the goalie shirt and runs over to us as though we could do something about it. Well, we did.......we went home, and Luke didn't get to play that game. Too bad he didn't realize his bad decision was gonna cost him playing in the game. Some of you might think that we were mean, but the kid knew that there was no bathroom, and was told to go at home. Where was he supposed to go.....the woods??? NOT! (That was his suggestion, by the way!)
Here's some pics of the boys on the sidelines.......IT was SOOOOOO cold.

I have to give credit where credit is due....I did not take this picture. Eric did. He thinks that he's a better photographer than me............well, like I said, I'll give him credit. This...is his ONE great picture.

(PS. These were all taken with my zoom lens that I got for my birthday!)

driving

Check this out! Luke's driving!!! This is something that Eric does quite often, and all the boys take turns driving down the road to our house, even Kaleb. They even get to park the car and everything. They love it! My favorite part of the video is when Luke is turning into the driveway...the way he looks so grown-up chomping on his gum, and turning the wheel. Shoot, he even does the whole cross-over with his hands as he's turning the wheel. He's a pro!

Luke and Makenna

I also got a few pics of her and Luke playing. She sure does love her big brother Luke. Whenever she sees him, her face lights up.

This is what she does now when she's excited about seeing someone. She'll reach her hand out as if she wants to give you a high five.

B/F/F

Jakeb has been going around telling everyone that Luke is his best friend. I told him that when I was little, I used to say....BFF. So now he's been going around saying, "Luke is my Best Friend Forever!"

mall play date

Yesterday, we had a mall play date with some friends from church. We met up first so that the kids could play at the park. There were my friend, Amy and her two kids (Addison and Anderson), Barbara and her three kids (Micah, Moriah, and Ross), and then me with all five of my kids. Ages ranged from 3 months- 8 years old. Talk about craziness. Actually they were all really good, and we had a great time. We met there so that we could get Barb registered because she's expecting baby #4, so we were off to Babies R'Us. You should have seen the workers when we all paraded into Babies R'Us to register. I could almost read their minds...thinking....."haven't they ALL done this before???" I also bought a baby gate for our kitchen. That was fun carrying all the way back across the mall. Thank goodness for kids. Luke and Moriah took turns carrying it. (Yes, that is Luke having fun with a GIRL!)

After getting Barb registered, we went to eat in the food court, then it was off to Bass Pro Shop because I told my kids that we were going to go look at the fish and turtles. I told them that there was absolutely no way I was going to climbing the water like Betsy does to get a turtle, and they were so sad. Fortunately, when I looked int he water, there was one actually swimming right up to me. Betsy, you would have been so proud of me! I leaned right over and picked that little critter up and let the kids look at it. (Seriously, Betsy, can you picture me getting the turtle??? Crazy, huh? You sooooo rubbed off on me! If only I would have gotten pictures!)

"It's raining...

...in the house!" These are the exact words I hear from my seven year old son, Blake today! Of course at first I simply ignore him because I figure he's just fooling around...at least until I heard it.....the sound of rain falling in the house. Then i saw it, the rain pouring down into the basement from the above bathroom. Luke was taking a shower, so we had him turn off the water. Then the rain turned into a drizzle then into a sprinkle. We put a bucket underneath it just in case, and then we moved on with our day. Later when I went to the bathroom I started swimming in a pond, a pond that had been created by none other than Luke himself. He had taken an entire shower witht he shower curtain on the outside of the tub causing the water to pool up on the floor and run into the closet down a little crack in the floor onto the basement floor downstairs. I asked Luke if he didn't notice the lake that he created in the bathroom, and would you believe he said YES! And that was it....never once did the two connect in his head......pool upstairs........raining downstairs.

They love her!
